About Us
Western Washington Football Officials Association (WWFOA) is a non-profit organization based in Tacoma, Washington, dedicated to training, developing, and dispatching qualified officials for high school football contests in Western Washington. Our mission is to support the integrity, fairness, and competitive spirit of high school football by ensuring that every game is officiated by capable, committed, and well-prepared officials.
Our Mission
-
Promote excellence in officiating — We are committed to elevating the standard of football officiating through rigorous training, performance evaluation, and ongoing professional development.
-
Support member development — Our members receive access to training clinics, rules education, mentorship, and evaluation to help them grow from beginners to experienced high school officials.
-
Provide reliable officiating services — By coordinating assignments and supporting communication among crews, we strive to ensure schools receive officiating coverage that is fair, consistent, and dependable.
-
Uphold sportsmanship & integrity — We believe that good officiating is essential to preserving the values of respect, safety, and fair play in youth and high school athletics.

-
Recruit & train new officials — We welcome individuals with or without experience, and provide the resources, classroom instruction, and field training needed to get started.
-
Assign games & manage schedules — We handle the logistics of assigning officials to high school games throughout Western Washington, working with athletic directors and schools to meet needs.
-
Ongoing education & evaluation — We host regular meetings, rules clinics, scrimmages, and evaluation sessions to help officials stay sharp and continually improve.
-
Support network & mentorship — Members benefit from a community of experienced officials who provide coaching, guidance, and peer support on and off the field.
Our History & Structure
Founded in 2009, WWFOA has grown to become a trusted resource for high school football officiating in Pierce County and the surrounding regions. As a 501(c)(7) organization, we are member-based and focused on reinvesting in our officials and our mission rather than on profit.
We operate under a leadership team that includes an assignor, assistant assignors, and a board of directors, all working together to ensure smooth operations from preseason training through the final whistle of the season.
